About Us

Effie Box was born when two people met at work in a bra shop, got drunk on banana cocktails, and realised they were very similar. They both enjoyed burning themselves with glue guns, spending inordinate amounts of time and money in the Paperchase on Tottenham Court Road, and spending their free time stroking kittens with one hand and working on craft projects with the other. One day at work, they laughed in the 32JJ section of the stockroom, and exclaimed how wonderful it would be to be able to set up a crafty business venture together, and then they giggled some more - and then things got quite serious, they claimed some social media names, and they got to work.

Effie Box was originally a tiny little dreamseed in Ellie (one half of Effie)’s peachy brain. People were forever telling her that they wished they were as creative as her, or that her monthly craft challenge for 2015 was making them wish they could come up with similar ideas. But they WERE as creative as her - they certainly had less chubby fingers. And they wouldn’t have to come up with the ideas…if the ideas were brought to them! Every month. In a nice cute box. With the materials alongside it.
This is where Francesca comes in. With a luscious creative background and as a dab hand at just about everything under the sun, she was supportive and just a little bit sarcastic in getting the wheels in motion. Thus, Effie Box was born. A beautiful, bouncing baby girl, with two deliriously happy mothers.
